THE BOYKIN SPANIEL
The Boykin Spaniel was first bred by South Carolina hunters during the 1900's to provide the ideal dog for hunting ducks and wild turkeys in the Wateree River Swamp. Hunters on South Carolina's Wateree River needed a small rugged dog compactly built for boat travel and able to retrieve on land and water. learn more>>

Boykin Spaniel Foundation Pheasant Tower Shoot
On Friday January 15th 2010 The Boykin Spaniel Foundation is planning to host a pheasant tower shoot open to all members of the society and their guests. The shoot will begin on Friday afternoon on the eve of our National Upland Championship at the Clinton House in Clinton SC. If you are planning on coming to Nationals you can just add this into the mix of dogs, fellowship and competition.

Tower shoots at The Clinton House consist of 15 blinds, each of which is occupied by two shooters. The tower field is set up in a unique style that offers the shooters an unmatched experience. The blinds surround the tower where shooters rotate around the field, giving all shooters an equal chance to shoot all blinds. This provides fast action experience that will leave long, lasting memories. It is also a great time for your dog to get in some fantastic retrieving. Please plan to come out and join us for this first time opportunity for all Boykin Spaniel lovers.

After the shoot, dinner will be served, while the pheasants are cleaned, packaged and divided equally among the shooters. The shoot will include 300 released pheasants and is $275.00 per gun. Observers are free. This fee includes 1 box of shells and dinner after the hunt.

Please call or email Bill Crites (wcrites307@bellsouth.net or call 803-730-7198) for more info and to reserve your spot on the pheasant grounds.
